Read Time: 4 mins
People in London and the South East of England engaging in home improvement activities this Bank Holiday weekend will be charged up to £100 more by skip providers to remove household junk than elsewhere in the UK.
Research by Clearabee reveals a significant North versus South divide in the price charged for hiring skips. Londoners will be charged £249 on average to hire a large (6 cubic yard) skip this weekend, while elsewhere in the South East the bill will typically come to £238. This compares to just £141 for the same skip in Yorkshire and £158 in the West Midlands.
At just £105, the cheapest place to hire a standard (4 cubic yard) skip this weekend is Yorkshire. This is just over half the price charged for similar skips in the South East (£185) and London (£192).
August Bank Holiday weekend is typically one of the busiest points in the year for DIY. People undertaking DIY and home improvement projects would do well to shop around for the best possible deal they can get.
