Clearabee Sofa (POPs) & Mattress Facility Opens in Birmingham

Read Time: 3 mins

Clearabee is delighted to announce the opening of our state-of-the-art sofa (POPS), mattress, and bulky waste facility in Birmingham. Our fully permitted facility is licensed for 75,000 tonnes annually and will be able to handle hundreds of thousands of sofas, mattresses, and other items of furniture every year.

In line with the latest regulations for handling sofas and POPs waste, items will go through a pre-shred and a secondary shred to produce a clean SRF, replacing fossil fuels in local cement kilns and minimising our carbon footprint by keeping the end product local wherever possible.

Clearabee’s multi million-pound investment includes advanced dust suppression and automatic fire detection and suppression systems, and all activities take place indoors.

Our sofa recycling facility is set up to receive vehicles from ‘walking floor’ style lorries and other articulated lorries through to smaller vans, with separate tipping bays available. All waste is weighed in and out with our easy-to-access weighbridge.

Clearabee can also provide transport using our own HGV or van fleet, collecting from customer sites where necessary.

Clearabee is committed to its carbon-neutral status and continues to offset all scope 1 and scope 2 carbon emissions from our operations which include our sofa and POPs site in Birmingham.

Our on-site visitor centre provides electric vehicle charging and meeting facilities.

Authorised third parties are able to utilise our site including furniture retailers and waste companies. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and you must be set up before visiting our site. Our sofa recycling site is not open to the public, but an in-home or in-business collection can be organised through our sofa collection service.
