FAQs
Scunthorpe skip hire FAQs
If you're looking for skip hire, there are a few things to take into account such as: which skip is the most suitable, where do you plan to place it and what do you plan to dispose of in it.
We have covered our main skips with our FAQ section, but we can hire out almost any type of skip upon request.
Standard household and bulky business waste can be disposed of via a skip, as can standard garden and construction waste streams. There are certain restrictions, however, regarding which waste streams can go into each skip and the mixing of different waste types.
Chemicals, liquids, solvents and paints
Hazardous waste streams (including fridges, TV’s and monitors)
White goods and WEEE items
Food waste
Plasterboard and gypsum waste
The above waste streams are prohibited from being thrown in a skip without prior arrangement.
The smallest skip generally available to the public is the ‘Midi’ skip, which is 4 cubic yards in size. Next up are the 6 - 8 cubic yards ‘Builders’ skips, followed by the 10 - 12 yards ‘Maxi’ and extra-large skips.
Bigger still are the specialist skips such as lockable skips, enclosed skips and Roll On, Roll Off containers. These can be supplied by Clearabee but it will take a few hours to obtain a quote for you.
If you’re going to place your skip on a road then you will need a skip permit from your local council. The costs vary depending on your local authority but in the majority of cases, we can apply for your skip permit and pass on the additional cost.
If you need to place your skip in a permit-only or Pay and Display parking space, you will require a parking suspension in addition to a skip permit.
There are additional costs associated with this because suspensions are usually charged on a day-by-day basis and require the council to place a notice to suspend the parking space so no one else can use it.
