Guildford skip permits
You need to acquire a skip permit if you are intending to place your skip on one of Guildford’s public roads.
Clearabee are able to offer invaluable advice on the individual requirements of your skip hire needs and apply for the permit on your behalf.
Guildford parking suspension
Office improvements, home renovations and construction sites all across Guildford and Surrey rely heavily upon skip hire. However, not every property (especially in the town centre) has space for a skip.
Wherever you are situated, we can help you to obtain a parking suspension so you can use a skip even if you don’t have space on your own property.
FAQs
Guildford skip hire FAQs
When it comes to skip hire, there are several things you should have a think about, including which skip is best for you, where you’re going to place it and what you're going to dispose of in it.
We discuss the main skips in our FAQ section, but we can hire out almost any type of skip if required.
While skips are a flexible waste removal option, there are several restrictions on which waste streams can be disposed of in a skip and the mixing of certain waste types.
Modestly-sized construction and garden rubbish is suitable for a skip, although you must take care with the weight of gravel, bricks and soil. Bulky items, business waste and standard household items can all be disposed of in a skip.
The following waste streams cannot be disposed of in a skip without previous agreement with Clearabee:
Solvents, chemicals and liquids (including paint)
WEEE items and white goods
Plasterboard/gypsum waste
Excessive volumes of construction waste
Hazardous waste streams such as fridges, TV’s and laptops
Waste food
Additional costs associated with skips depend on the situation, but these can be mitigated with planning. Some include:
Permits & parking suspensions - if your skip needs to be placed on the road you will need to acquire a skip permit and if you need to use a parking space that requires a permit, you will also need to pay for a parking suspension.
Prohibited items - hazardous waste cannot be disposed of via a skip and could incur a substantial additional cost. These include fridges, TVs and paint.
Overfilling - the load must be safe to transport and if you overfill your skip you could be charged extra or the collection could fail.
Wasted journeys - these can occur as a result of a failed collection or delivery so please make sure that there are no obstacles to drop off or collection.
You will need a skip permit if you are intending to place your skip on the public highway. Skip permit costs vary depending on your local authority, but we can apply for the skip permit and include the additional cost in your order.
You are going to need a parking suspension if you intend to place a skip within parking areas that are permit-only or Pay and Display. This is in addition to a skip permit.
A parking suspension requires the council to place a notice stopping others from parking there. This will be charged on a day-by-day basis.
