Chesterfield skip permits

You will need a skip permit if you are intending to place your skip on one of Chesterfield’s public highways.

Clearabee can offer expert advice on your individual skip hire needs and apply for the permit on your behalf, adding the cost to your order.

Chesterfield parking suspension

Office improvements, renovation projects and construction sites all across Chesterfield and the East Midlands rely heavily upon skip hire.

However, many properties do not have space for a skip. Wherever you are, we can help you to obtain the relevant parking suspensions so you can use a skip if you don’t have space on your property.

FAQs

Chesterfield skip hire FAQs

When hiring a skip, there are some things that you should consider, including which skip is the most suitable for you, where you plan to put it and what you plan to dispose of.

We have discussed the main skips in our FAQ section, but we can hire out almost any sort of skip if required.

View all FAQs

While skips are a flexible waste clearance option, there are certain restrictions on which waste streams can be disposed of in which skip and around the mixing of waste types.

Modest construction and garden rubbish streams are both suitable for a skip, although you must take care with the weight of gravel, bricks and soil. Bulky items, business waste and standard household items can all be thrown into a skip.

The following streams cannot be disposed of in a skip without previous agreement with Clearabee:

Solvents, chemicals and liquids (including paint)

WEEE items and white goods

Plasterboard or gypsum waste

Hazardous waste streams such as fridges, TV’s and laptops

Excessive volumes of heavy or dense waste

Food wastage

There can be additional costs associated with skips depending on the situation, but with planning, these can be mitigated against. These are:

Skip permits & parking suspensions - if the skip needs to be placed on the road, you will need to acquire a skip permit. If you plan on using a parking space that requires a permit instead, you will also need to pay for a parking suspension.

Prohibited items - hazardous waste streams cannot be disposed of via a skip and could incur a substantial additional cost. These include, but are not exclusive to, fridges, tv and monitors.

Overfilling - the skip’s load must be safe to transport. If you overfill your skip, you could be charged extra or the collection could fail.

Wasted journeys - these can occur as a result of a failed collection or delivery that is not our fault. Please make sure that there are no obstacles to drop off or collection.

You will need a skip permit in Chesterfield if you are intending to place your skip on the road. Skip permit costs vary depending on the local authority, but we can apply for the skip permit on your behalf and include the additional cost in your order.

You are going to need a parking suspension to place a skip within parking areas that are permit-only or Pay and Display. This is in addition to a skip permit.

A parking suspension will require the council to place a notice which stops others from parking in the space. This will be charged on a day-by-day basis.

What is a Midi Skip?

A midi skip is a smaller variant of skip, it’s smaller size means they’re easier to handle to cheaper to hire. The most common size of skip tends to be the 8-yard skip, while midi skips hold a capacity of 4 cubic yards. Midi skips tend to be best suited for clear-outs after the renovation of a single room. They are ideal for kitchen and bathroom refurbs. For a clearance of an entire home, you would probably have to look at a skip with a larger capacity. Something like an 8 or a 12-yard skip possibly, that’s of course if you plan to do all the heavy lifting and fill the skip yourself. If you would like an extra pair of hands or two then our reliable and speedy ‘Man and Van’ service might be just what you’re looking for.
